A pressure-reducing valve (PRV) near your main shutoff brings it down to a safe level. When a PRV fails, high pressure stresses every pipe, water heater, toilet fill valve and faucet in the house.

We test your pressure with a gauge, replace failing PRVs and add expansion tanks where needed. We also repair and replace the main water line from the meter to your home when it leaks or is undersized.

We quote water line and PRV work in writing after testing and inspecting. Price depends on:

  • Line length and depthThe distance from the meter to the house and what’s over the line.
  • Landscaping and hardscapeRock, pavers or concrete that need to be removed and restored.

Most homes do best between about 50 and 70 psi. Anything over 80 psi can damage fixtures, appliances and your water heater.

A PRV lowers the incoming city water pressure to a safe level for your home. They wear out over time and should be checked if you notice banging pipes or running toilets.

It can be a sign of high pressure or thermal expansion. A failing PRV or a missing expansion tank are common causes.

Generally, the homeowner is responsible for the line from the meter to the house, and the water utility is responsible for the meter and the street side. We repair the homeowner’s side.
